What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device to make it work, to measure how it is used, or to support marketing. Cookies that do anything beyond essential site function require your consent under UK law.

How piqu uses cookies

The piqu website is being prepared for launch. The intended cookie use, once the consent provider and tools are wired, is:

Essential cookies (always on)

These are required for the site to work. They include things like:

  • Your cookie-consent choice itself, so we do not ask you on every page.
  • The session and security cookies used by any form submission that depends on them.

You cannot turn off essential cookies in the consent banner because the site would not function correctly without them.

Analytics cookies (consent-gated)

If we enable Google Analytics 4, it will set cookies that record aggregated visit-level statistics (pages visited, approximate location, device category, referrer). These cookies run only after you give analytics consent in the banner.

Marketing cookies (consent-gated, Pinterest Tag)

If we enable the Pinterest Tag, it will only run after you give marketing consent in the banner. Specifically:

  • The Pinterest base tag is loaded only after you give marketing-cookie consent.
  • The Pinterest "Lead" event is fired only after a successful contact-form submission, and only if marketing consent has already been given.
  • No personal data is sent to Pinterest. We only signal that an event happened; we do not send your name, email, phone number, message, postcode or any other field from the form.

If you do not give marketing consent, no Pinterest script loads at all and no event is sent.

The cookie consent banner

When you first visit the site, you will see a consent banner offering three choices:

  • Accept all — gives consent for essential + analytics + marketing cookies.
  • Reject non-essential — gives consent only for essential cookies.
  • Manage — lets you choose analytics and marketing separately.

Until you make a choice, no analytics or marketing tags load. No Pinterest tag, no Google Analytics. Only essential cookies that are needed for the page to render.

Changing your consent later

You can change your cookie consent at any time. The banner offers a "Cookie preferences" link in the footer that re-opens your choices and lets you withdraw consent for analytics or marketing.

If you want us to delete any analytics or marketing cookies already set on your device, you can clear cookies for piqu.co.uk through your browser's settings.

What cookies do not run before consent

To be explicit, the following do not run until you have made an active choice in the consent banner:

  • Pinterest base tag.
  • Pinterest Lead event.
  • Google Analytics 4 (if enabled).
  • Google Tag Manager (if used).
  • Any other marketing or analytics third-party script.

The website renders normally without these tags. They are not required for browsing, reading project case studies, or submitting an enquiry.
